I met Allan over several breakfasts at the Clevedon 4N meetings and although my company as a FTSE 250 organisation has websites down to a fine art I needed help on a personal project. Through various networks one meets quite a few website designers. I was initially impressed by Allan’s approach and the way he presented himself and his company. Having got to know Allan MacDougall through 4Networking at Weston super Mare, I had sought his advice over niggling issues to do with Google, SEO, keywords etc. He had always bent over backwards to be really helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble; it also struck me that he knew what he was talking about! I have been really pleased with the service from Allan MacDougall of Activ Web Design. He met me at my house in the evening, which fitted around my job. Thankfully, he didn’t talk in technological jargon and he made comparisons with things I already know. He designed and set up my website, designed my logo and my business cards. It was actually very nice to get it all from the same person because then it’s a lot more consistent and I didn’t have to hunt around. Also, many designers charge hourly and you can never tell how much it will cost, whereas with Allan it’s a fixed price. As a start-up, I had a limited and final budget, so the fixed price gave me peace of mind. More importantly, in a way, is customer service. I am an email person and this really worked for me as Allan always responded promptly when I had any questions or requests, and nothing was too much trouble. I am now setting up a Facebook business page which Allan will also do as he has a lot of knowledge in this area. He was recommended to me by my accountant and by the person I used for help with HR (who’s a customer of Allan). And if you are looking for someone for a website, designing business cards/logos, or with social media then I can wholeheartedly recommend him.
